Barbed Wire
Tattoos
History
Barbed wires were invented way back in the 1800s. This was a way of "Taming
the West" but it is actually oftentimes connected with prison camps and trench defences during the Second World
War. Barbed wires were created to mark a territory .
If we go back into history, barbed wire tattoos were more like coded tattoos.
Russian coded prison tattoos are both interesting and complicated. Barbed wire tattoos across the forehead means
that a person is in prison for life without parole. Generally though, barbed wire tattoos signify confinement as it
is oftentimes associated with criminality
Today, barbed wire tattoos are also popular outside and even made more popular by Pamela Anderson when she used it. Instead
of seeing coded tattoos, barbed wire tattoos are now used as a fad. Barbed wire tattoos appeal to both men and
women because of its many variations. Barbed wire tattoos can either be placed on the upper arms or ankles.
However, barbed wire tattoos are not limited to the upper arms or ankles. You can also place
them on other parts of the body. Barbed wire
tattoos represent some sort of bondage and some people prefer to use
these barbed wire tattoos to show some bonding among
them.
What are the Most Common Body Areas for Barbed Wire
Tattoos?
The wrists, as previously mentioned is a common body part where barbed wire
tattoos can be placed. There is one thing that you must consider also before you put barbed wire tattoos on your wrists though. There are establishments and work
places that do not allow tattoos to be seen while at work. This is especially true for big companies
and those that are "formal" in work. If you are seen with a tattoo, it can be a basis of being not admitted
for work. I am not saying all though. But there are some companies which are particular to not wanting tattoos
seen at work. If it cannot be avoided, you can have it concealed by clothing or by accessories. The wrist is
an ideal place for barbed wire tattoos but they can be easily seen so hiding barbed wire tattoos may be a bit
difficult.
Another popular place to put a tattoo is the back. One of the
reasons is because the skin on the back is wider and you can have many tattoo design ideas and they will fit there.
Since there are a lot of different variations of barbed wire tattoos, you can have your own version as well for
example, barbed wire can be wrapped around a rose or a heart or simply wrap it around anything that is according to
what the wearer fancies. Barbed wires are not limited to only the chain design. Any design can be added anytime you
want. Depending on a person’s taste, your tattoo designs can be small or large since the back has a wide area of
skin. You can even extend the barbed wire tattoos from your shoulder up to the other shoulder or from your nape up
to the upper cheeks of the buttocks. There are many ways to do it!
This brings us to the next areas that can also be used to place barbed wire
tattoos. The neck is another area where you can have your tattoo. Barbed wire tattoos can look like a permanent
necklace on your neck and placing a barbed wire tattoo on your waist or hips can also look good. If again, you have
to consider the visibility of a tattoo, placing it in on your hips has a better chance of concealing the tattoo. It
is a bit harder to hide the neck.
